Who we are

Dumb AI is an independent project operated from Israel. You can reach us at hello@example.com.

Summary

• There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name.
• We don't store your chats on our servers. Your chat history lives in your own browser.
• Your questions are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to generate answers.
• We don't sell your data, we don't use advertising trackers, and we don't set cookies.
• We only have your email address if you give it to us, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What stays in your browser

These are stored on your device using your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us, and you can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data (or, for chats, by pressing "New chat"):

• Your recent chat history (up to the last 60 messages) and your selected mode.
• Your light/dark theme preference.
• Which posts you have "groaned" at on the Today's Dumbest feed.

Share images are created on your device. Nothing is uploaded when you download or share one.

What is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic)

When you ask a question, use Dumbify, or answer a "Make me dumb" question, your text is sent through our server to Anthropic so its Claude model can generate a reply. To keep the conversation coherent we also send up to your last six chat messages. We do not send your IP address, email or any other identifier with these requests.

Anthropic processes this data under its commercial terms, which state that it does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. Anthropic may retain this data for a limited period under its own policies, for example for safety and abuse monitoring. See Anthropic's Commercial Terms and Privacy Policy.

Please don't type sensitive personal information (health details, passwords, ID numbers) into Dumb AI. It won't help, and it doesn't need to know.

What our servers keep

• Rate-limit counters. To stop abuse and control costs, we count requests per visitor in Upstash (a Redis database). Counters are keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, and expire automatically within about two hours.
• Hosting logs. Our host, Vercel, records standard request logs (such as IP address, pages requested, time and browser type) to operate and secure the service, and keeps them for a limited period. Our own application logs record only technical metadata such as which feature was used, error codes and token counts. They never contain the text of your questions or of Dumb AI's answers.
• Anonymous daily totals (number of questions and number of rate-limit hits), with no link to any visitor.
• Email signups, described below.

Email signups

If you choose to enter your email address to get notified about Dumb AI, we store that address and the time you signed up in our Upstash database. We use it only to send you updates about Dumb AI. We don't share it or sell it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or ask us to delete your address by writing to hello@example.com.

Where data is processed

Our service providers (Vercel for hosting, Upstash for our database, and Anthropic for AI) may process data in the United States and other countries. We choose providers that protect data under their own terms.

Children

Dumb AI is not intended for children under 13, and they are not permitted to use it. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can clear your browser's site data at any time to remove everything stored on your device. You can ask us to access, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you (in practice, your email address) by writing to hello@example.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
